In the Eure, it all starts with the unmissable village of Giverny where Claude Monet, the “painter-gardener”, settled and thrived.
On the border of Normandy, really close to Paris, Giverny is the perfect place to immerse yourself in colours and scents that make you dream. While having a walk around the village, you will be amazed by the charming houses and elegant gardens lining the little streets. You will be tempted to stop at a studio, an art gallery or a pretty little shop... In Giverny, time stands still and is enjoyed to the full.
Here and there, you can treat yourself to a pleasant change of scenery. A break in another era at the Hotel Baudy to see the old artists' studio and the splendid rose garden that grows on the hillside. Nice new places have opened over the last few years in this little village, which symbolises Impressionism: the gourmet hotel and restaurant Jardin des Plumes, the Brasserie des Artistes, the welcoming Dîme de Giverny guest house, etc.
There are several walking trails throughout the village for visitors to immerse themselves in its special atmosphere: Giverny Discovery Trail, Black Water Lily Walk, inspired by Michel Bussi's novel, and In Monet's Footsteps Nature Trail.
We particularly like: Looking at the gardens as if they were living works of art.
